World Cup is coming soon.
Are you excited?
I’ve all but lost all interest in watching men’s football ever since I was a teenager.
Compounding that, the politics surrounding the world cup event have become increasingly shady; Russia, Qatar and USA, all three have had, let’s just say, controversial issues regarding their hosting or the event (war, genocide, slavery, corruption, arbitrary deportations, cheating… you name it).
So, to me, at this point it is pretty much unwatchable. My country didn’t qualify and I actually prefer it that way, given the circumstances (also, because this time around we have mediocre team at best).
I am very much looking forward to this world cup.
I think there is going to be lots of chaos and drama and mayhem. Expecting a slow motion train wreck.

I keep hearing “dai dai, igo”…
When I was under 30, I used to watch all kinds of sports on TV, but somehow I lost interest. I may watch a match or two though.
P.S. Shakira in 2010:
I’m not sure whether I’m the only one who find the two songs similar…
Dai Dai is co-written by Burna Boy who is Nigerian, and the original Waka Waka song is from Cameroon:
I suppose that musicians from Nigeria and from Cameroon influence each other, since these are neighboring countries. Add the fact that Shakira is the singer in both songs, then of course there are similarities.
That’s the last World Cup where I knew the players that were in the teams and I watched with any interest, especially since it was at the perfect timezone for my country.
Unfortunately the poor choice of sports casters/commentators (imagine having Donald Duck from the old cartoons commentating the games
) from the national TV combined with the vuvuzelas, made most of us just watch the games on mute. ![]()
At the most famous post-midnight sports show, known for its lack of filter, some viewer sent an SMS saying “vuvuzelas - commentators? Mark 2 (it means the away team won)” and as the presenter said roughly interpreted “thousands of people with vuvuzelas vs one man, and that one man won.”
And he was correct… in the rare cases I watch football nowadays, I tend to mute the commentators and put on some music. I’d pay money to have football without commentation, just with the sound of the fans from the stands. In the few times that the commentators were on strike, those were the best games I’ve ever watched, even if the football shown/played was mediocre.
P.S.
For those too young to remember the vuvuzela buzz:
Both songs have a lot of hip shaking too
Well, that’s Shakira.
Her hips don’t lie huh
Seems like the World Cup just started. But the timing is either my morning time or my sleeping time, so I don’t think I will be able to watch
. I’m long past the age where I will stay up until 3am just to watch a game of soccer.
South Korea is playing Czechia soon. I wonder if they will both win this game and win the games in LG Cup.
Many viewers jumped from BadukTV to watch the World Cup so Shin Jinseo is very sad lol
It was the opening act for the more important event.
Seems like Japan got into the Round of 32, but Korea didn’t, and many people seem to be looking forward to this match.
A lot of people are also looking forward to Cape Verde vs Argentina, or Vozinha vs Messi, or David vs Goliath.
Vozinha - a goalkeeper of a nation of approx. ~500k gained worldwide fame after keeping a clean sheet against the behemoth Spain. He went from 40k to 17M followers on Instagram in this world cup.

Some tear-jerking: His mother couldn’t attend his Football matches due to Visa issues. Thanks to U.S. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, she could attend Cape Verde’s match against Saudi Arabia that made them advance into the knock-out stage after a draw that placed them second in the group. The goalkeeper also cost someone to lose 1 million dollars, didn’t he?
as far as I know, its little margin of overall bets that went trough and lost, only in oficial database 30+mil which is bordeline insane
