Wrong rank

I dont see an optionfor reporting an oponent with clearly a wrong rank
Is that not punishable here or am I blind
And if it is not punishable, then I would strongly suggest to add that. Every chess site I know has that option

If people are not sandbaggers, their rank will quickly adjust to its proper level. If they are sandbagging, then you can report them for that from within a thrown game.

This guy have over 2000 games so it couldnt be rank discrapancy, And i i dont see him throwing games
But he clearly played 10 ranks stronger than his rank

^^

Are they playing unranked games? It’s allowed to play unranked games, we can’t force people to play ranked.

If you report them for sandbagging anyway through the main site we can have a look at their recent games.

Noüe it shows in his rating graph

Ok i try reporting him.
In the meanwhile I avoid lower rank players not to be cheated again

ok it says i can only report sandbaging if i reported on the game
Do I have to look for a game where he lost on purpose or is my game enough?

Report your game if you want sure, and we can look into it

If he plays ranked often, and is not throwing games on purpose, then by definition his rank is correct (even if he might not be the most consistent player).

I’m not sure what makes you think the opposite?

Because his peformance in our game was really mutch higher than his rank

If you want to be sure not be cheated again shouldn’t you stop playing on OGS all together?

Guessing a player’s rank from a single game is actually rather hard, and people are often worse at it than they expect. To demonstrate your ability to accurate determine people’s ranks from their games, please register an account at https://kyudan.net/ where this task is gamified and tell us your account/score.

(You may see I am on the leaderboard at #15 with an average offset in my guesses of almost 4 ranks).

We did that in a thread here too as a game, if anyone wants to revive it.

I tried to guess 3 games. Are all those guesses in dan range? how should i guess the strength of 2 mutch stronger players?
And somehow the examples were all wwre the higher rank player messed up( eg oversaw an ko theat)
3, 3, 4, 2, 4, 0, where my guesses. So i n your opnion normal false guesses

In my game i was talking about a rankge of 7-9 aproxomatly

I only need assurance that any rank incuracy of my oponents are being considered so I dont lose or win points i shouldnt

As people explained, you can report the player if you think they are sandbagging (throwing games on purpose).

However, as per your own comments, they play often and are not throwing games, so I don’t see any reason to think their rank is inaccurate. The fact that you just felt like they were stronger during a given game doesn’t mean much.

I have a similar question: one of my opponents dropped 5 stones in rank within one day. I was curious and so i looked on his profile. He played 13 games within 12 minutes against a bot. In every game he resigned after about 10 moves. Maybe he was just practicing Joseki. But i found it a bit strange that all the games were ranked.

That’s sandbagging. You can report that player and moderators will have a look.
