Hereās another possible configuration:
They could be making a ponnuki or kosumi or other not directly connected moves in relation to that stone.
but then
Probably another good idea.
In the configurations youāre both sharing P2 looks good for red, and worth checking red hasnāt spread that direction.
So what about
P2, Q8 and Iāll take O6 say?
Revealing yebellz stones is certainly very helpful, but it also means that our team doesnāt get to place that stone. There is a payoff there.
If we play close to this revealed stone, I believe we will likely find more of yebellz stones. But at the same time, maybe we donāt advance at the task of making sure yebellz canāt live.
Iād like a somewhat inbetween approach, where we play at some distance from all sides, try to get a bit of information but also place some stones that might make yebellz job difficult.
P2 will also limit any attempt to make an eye around there.
Without revealing more we donāt know in which direction heās making a base, though.
Iāll play P2, hoping itās not a collision, and could play something like Q3 next round if we donāt find anything in the corner. If there are stones in the corner, they cannot make more than 1 eye there, and need 4 stones to connect to the outside (since we can capture it otherwise)
Another strategy would be to place 1st line stones with 2 spaces in between: that way at least one of them needs to be captured at some point to become an eye, and with the two spaces, the eyes arenāt optimally placed next to each other.
E.g.
I like your suggestion @shinuito, but Iām less worried that yebellz goes to the center. How about something like this?
Or alternatively, If we anticipate that Q2 will be a collision, then maybe shinuitoās move could be on the lower side too - something like N2 perhaps.
I think with P2, it will be quite hard to make eyes on the bottom side.
Oh sorry, I meant to say that P2 may be a collision, in which case the lower side will be important.
We will see that next turn, then, right?
Actually, as far as throw-ins is concerned, R2 would be quite perfect, right?
Yes but then P2 is not placed, and yebellz will be able to place another stone on the lower side.
Sorry if Iām pitching too many ideas, but hereās another one that came to my mind:
That way, even if P2 is a collision, L2 could help block the lower side. Somehow Iām less worried that yebellz stones are on the upper right side.
I think our first goal should be to find out whether there are stones in the corner or not. Without knowing where the stones are, L2 seems like a bit of a wasteā¦
Yeah I think P2 if placed will make a strong blue group nearby the stone we see, and reduce the corner eyespace.
If P2 isnāt place we gain information about one or more stones which should help us in future turns ![]()
So I quite like this one but open to put my stone wherever
I like this suggestion best as well.
Ok letās try this then. I hope P2 will not collide, but I have a feeling that it will ^^
//Edit: Actually Iād like to play L2 now. Sorry about that ^^ @Vsotvep @shinuito are you ok with these moves?
Q8
L2
P2
Iām ok with it. Q10 would probably make your top side and stones very strong though.
I would strongly prefer Q10. Iām not sure why youāre fearing that thereās stuff on the bottom when we found a stone on the right.
Ok, this is both good and bad. If there are more stones in the corner, we donāt know about it now. If there arenāt, we should find the actual group thatās trying to live as soon as possible. The good news is that the Q6 stone in this last case is a āwastedā move by yebellz, thus our last move is not necessarily bad.
Iām thinking of playing D3 or C2 to make the other corner safer.
I think itās good if the Q8 stone is fortified, e.g. with Q9, so that cannot be abused by yebellz.
And then something at the bottom to test Martinās suspicion?
