I don’t know if esoka was thinking of “cosmic style” as the right way to violate the corners-sides-centre principle. Most of the time when I try something like that, it fails unless my opponent is 2 ranks lower.

Last night I was in BenKyo’s “fun fuseki” stream, in which he was taking coordinate suggestions for where to play his first few moves.
It happened that in one of these cases they fell into a structure that I said looked like a greyhound.

Here are some strategies for beginners:
When beginning a game, distribute individual stones all around the board to establish influence.
*Then begin forming groups. Try to connect your groups, and to keep your opponent from connecting their groups.
*When beginning a game, play on the edges instead of the centre.
