What horrors hath this cursed tournament wrought!
Perhaps, the dan mind should not be exposed to the dangers of 25x25 Go?
It reminds me of this short story:
http://www.infinityplus.co.uk/stories/blit.htm
Maybe they ascended to a higher state of intelligence. Maybe they are gods now, or at least busy trying to manage the thunders and flames coming out of their hands and eyes, or something.
How’s this tournament going?
Slowly.
We’re on a good pace. Some games worried me but now it looks ok. 8 games left, slowest game is 212 moves.
On novembre 24th: 128 games total, 8 games in progress, 55 timeout.
256 players, 55 disqualified, 8 resigned.
65 games decided not by timeout: 36 won by white, 29 by black.
53 games won by resignation.
Scores span from 32 to 220 points difference.
Colour must be assigned randomly. We have both black stronger or white stronger.
If we exclude 25k players (whose ranking may vary from -8 to +5) extreme differences are (B)13k vs (W)5d and (B)5k vs (W)24k.
Well done (and interesting). The quantity of time out is a bit impressive, although I dunno if similar on 19*19 tournaments with similar settings

What does that graph mean?
A historic tournament!
Is there a more accessible way to view the games?
Do you mean this one?
It’s players rank, black vs white, using OGS “playerranking”.
One dot for each game.
Ah, thanks, so the colour is redundant - it’s totally a function of x and y?
Colour is white rank - black rank (y-x).
Deeper colour means bigger difference. Blue means white is stronger, orange means black is stronger.
Which is also evident from the position of the dot, right?
(I was originally genuinely asking to make sure I wasn’t missing a meaning, but now it’s more nit-picking, I admit )
Wow, so many dead groups!
I’m really looking forward to my next game. This round took a while.
You must be very familiar with numbers and cartesian planes.
The difference between orange and blue dots is quite “evident” for me too, but the darker dots seem to me quite far from each other: colour depth helped me recognizing that 35-20 is someway similar to 20-5.
I must admit that it’s “totally” described by x and y, but it wasn’t so “redundant” in my perception.
I feel the coloured chart more understandable than a grey one.
And more appealing too.
Second round!
