Summary

N14
L7

I found terrific’s second guess.

second one

wedge at L7

my first one is easier to read. good enough to get a B at least.

More about this one

After N14 black can seal white in and white doesn’t have two eyes. But it’s risky for black to kill. For example, N14, O14, N13, Q14, N15, R15, S14, S15, black’s corner is dangerous. Therefore, after blocking white I’d go for P8 cut as black

Ah, only now I realized that you were answering for the two different boards

O14 was my original plan in that game, but it doesn’t work:

L7 is indeed the correct move on the last board

This squeeze gains 1 liberty and wins the capturing race:

Black can’t save both A and B:

Nice

Black to play and kill:

It’s not too difficult, but I messed it up in the game

Kitani Vs Shusai

I will read later, my first thought is N6

Edit: ok, final answer.

Huh?

After N6, O6 makes two eyes!

My first thought is O3 (edit: doesn’t work).

It’s the same stupid looking shape that Kitani famously played against Shusai in the Meijin’s retirement game.

I figured this was the game you were referring to, but didn’t remember any big groups dying, so didn’t make the connection :stuck_out_tongue:
