My intuition was correct, but I failed to read out the correct sequence and played at E14 in the game.

Thoughts
F2 captures two stones, and unless black takes gote to connect underneath there is some trouble on both sides (the corner might die, or K3 could get into a capturing race with M3). But N12 is a huge shape point, so it feels strange to tenuki. Probably white needs to read out the follow-ups on the bottom more carefully than I did before choosing.

F2 is very big indeed, according to Katago it can be played immediately although N12 is almost as good. In any case, if White N12 then Black must play M12 and then White plays F2.

I bet it’s like C11 or something. I had a similar corner pattern in a blitz game that I lost terribly.
