OGS connection issues for BT users (Was: Is OGS running slow? ... no, it isn't)

Been having issues since the weekend.
Typically it is taking multiple attempts to submit a move
Or the slow connection red warning comes up.
My broadband tests fine.

I have logged out all devices and logged back in again.

Anyone else having issues. How should they be reported?

symptoms:

having to submit moves multiple times
screen not updating when opponant has moved
game boards not displaying when game has started
chat messages appearing not to be sent
showing ‘waiting for opponant’ when opponant has accepted the game and waiting for you/
on off warnings about slow internet when a speed test shows broadband is fine.

who supports such issues ?
who do we report them to ?

this usually happens to me when I’m playing using mobile data that is slow. When using wifi it never happens to me.
also @anoek might be able to help you.

I’m seeing a similar issue for a little while (atleast a few weeks - and was happening again this morning) - looks like I’ve lost connection to the servers. Usually refreshing my browser and then playing my move sorts it, but if i wait around on the site it looks like it loses connection again. I mostly play on Edge running on Windows 11 with a wired network connection. I don’t have issues with other sites.

I had this issue a couple times recently. The vast majority of the times it works fine, but there’s a few moves where I had to click three times.

I’m getting lots of issues with ogs running slow for the last 2 weeks.

Moves take 2-3 attempts to submit
Chats don’t appear to be sent
Screen does not update when opponent makes move
Games don’t appear to start properly

I get this on multiple devices, phone, Chromebook and desktop. I have tested my fibre broadband and it is working fine.

I’m now getting warned that I didn’t play in games I didn’t see had started.

I see lots of other messages about this problem on this forum.

Does anyone from OGS do anything investigating or is this space just for moaning ?

Any update on this and how to get my account working again.
Its almost impossible now to send messages in chat.
My internet is fine, no other issues with other sites etc,
I am using the chrome browser on a chromebook but I get the same issues on android as well (using chrome). Just switched to firefox on my phone and might see if I can do the same on the chromeboox.

I’M SORRY — I merged two threads about the same thing (OGS running slow) but accidentally didn’t click “preserve chronological order after merging”.

Same here for a few days now: have to submit my turn twice, first attempt is just ignored.
Firefox on Windows on wired network with no other problems.

Same problem on Firefox on Android and on iPad
Cleared cache and problem comes back
Created a new account = same problem
Logged out and watched as guest = same problem

Impacts all my devices and browsers
Broadband is fine.

Are you part of the OGS support group?
I am happy to try different things and provide further information, just need someone to look at this.

The first helpful thing will be a screenshot of the browser console while this issue is being experienced.

We’re interested in any error message, red stuff, or messzges about network connections like these (which are what happens when I turn off my wifi):

OGS is basically unusable for me.
I cant get matched with games as the game starts without me knowing and times out.
I can see 3 games in my history that were annuled.

I have exactly the same problem. It started a out 3 weeks ago.

The same problem here and makes it so frustrating to play as almost every move has to be submitted twice. It is not my browser or broadband related as I have exacltly the same problem playing using my phone with 5g.

Is there any support contact available?
