Hi. I’m keen to know aggregate statistics on players, likethe average time and number of games taken by players to climb from ddk to sdk to dan, the percentage of players who reach dan when starting out at ddk, number of daily games played on average by players of different ranks, etc. Would it be possible to see these after accounting for users with multiple accounts?

All data are available on the server. No stats though. If you want them you can make them yourself, as some of us do.
You can ask the server for players ratings history.
I should have the string for that somewhere. It’s a http request.
But it’s just one player at a time.

You can find a snapshot of >12M ranked games in the repo https://github.com/online-go/goratings .

There are several Forum threads in which S_Alexander and others published a wide variety of aggregate statistical graphs. I don’t remember the names, but you can use the Forum search tool to find them.

Here are some threads with statistics:
I downloaded some game metadata of random players. Games ended from May to November, 100 latest games (for that period) for each player. And we can plot game lengths to see how long an average game takes. From downloaded games I excluded annulled games and games with width or height not equal to 19. And plotted histogram.
[Game%20length%20hist]
To make better estimation we can weight each game by “total game count in given period / downloaded game count” but it doesn’t change the picture sign…
@BHydden prodded me to make a proper version of OGS rank histogram. Indeed histogram from 17 months ago isn’t good at all, I didn’t put much thought into it.
This time over the span of two weeks I polled almost every player who played a game within last 6 months (specifically every player who is connected through any chain of games to Sadaharu).

Anoek was kind enough to dump some information from the player database and let me create some plots for it. The result is here:
Opinions on this data are welcome, particularly if there’s some other piece of data that you think would be interesting to add or explore.
EDIT:
More stats, this time for games over the last month:
Updated player statistics, as of May 6, 2016. The post Lee Sedol & AlphaGo bump is the most interesting new features.
Jupyter Notebook
Not many players that registered right around the AlphaGo paper and the LSD vs. AG games have stuck around, but the number of users registering per day has definitely increased.
(Disclaimer: I’d love more official data and statistics, so if the OGS team wants me to create some info graphics with official data, let me know )
Because data is cool, I dug a bit deeper to see which effect Corona had on my favourite Go server. There are a few numbers I collected by going through game and accountdata on online-go.com and put them into a cute graphic.
A few remarks:
As expected, the activity increased a LOT. The biggest increase happened in march, alongside the dif…

There is, of course, G0tstats (https://avavt.github.io/gotstats/#/ ) run by @Chinitsu , although it doesn’t provide the sort of data you’re looking for.

daily registrations statistics, full 2020 included
weekly number of games, full 2020 included
(Search for “statistics” shows this topic first.)
(And that topic had not clear name, some people could think that its about new year celebration and ignore it.)
(So I am posting link here.)
