Playing Go in Movies and TV-Shows (pictures)

We get a brief baduk scene in Hotel Del Luna (netflix kdrama):

It looks like a “projected goban” on some kind of glass smart desk with thickness.

The viewing prospective gives the illusion of stones floating in midair, but still can see the light shadows on glass.

BTW, the whole game just progressed one move compared to episode 3 (the new black move protects the corner quite poorly and creates more cut points)

Not quite on topic, but I caught something in the background of a video on the Graeco-Egyptian magical papyri.

The channel is ESOTERICA, which focuses on historical magical practices and esoteric religion.

Age of Legends. ep. 14

(the blue hue is my camera, couldn’t screenshot it, the website must have protection)

I think he’s playing by himself in one corner, probably practicing his shapes. My guilt follows me everywhere! :no_mouth:

In the episode “Five short tables” (Season 8 episode 9) of adventure time I saw

It starts off looking very like a game of go, although maybe not necessarily exactly like one would be played.

They mention that here Five Short Tables | Adventure Time Wiki | Fandom

The game that Prince Gumball plays with Butterscotch Butler initially resembles the Chinese strategy board game “Go,” but it would seem that game has some parallels to checkers as well because Butterscotch Butler starts jumping pieces and says “king me” when she gets to the other side of the board.

So I got initially excited but then what can you do, I guess they have a fictional board game in a fictional show.

Here’s the clip

Screengrab from an after-credits segment of Jujutsu Kaisen ep 6. I think they were using it as more of a pun on this character’s name, because neither the segment (nor show) has anything to do with go.

From “Danger Zone”.

Question: he just lost a game (he played black) and wonders why. Is this a realistic GO layout or it’s just a prop?

The position doesn’t look unrealistic, but it’s really bad for Black.

Game Ikai

Of course, it’s pretty realistic, aren’t you a go player? When you see top right it’s immediately obvious it’s the flying knife.

You see S14 there which is pretty telling. On top N17 is sometimes left unprotected so the opponent cut and you crawl, and in those games O15 ends up pretty lumpy which is what we can see. Obviously Q11 was played at some point. This is really new stuff, did they use AI game? Top-left is really bottish too.

Isn’t there a black stone in the (viewer’s) upper left that should be taken off the board?

Here?

I think this is the position.
I’d feel quite thin as black.
