EDIT: Technically asking to roll
Too late now! muhahaha!
(technically discobot is the one rolling)
Crit fail
Of course I want it! Let’s see if we can make it work.
Ruby taps the orb a few times and nothing happens. He then slams it down on the table.
Edit: Didnt see the last few posts. I guess I fished it out of my curry first.
Yes, it’s a Nat-1, nothing to do
Gia is watching the conversation skeptically. Leira seemed like a person who would be useful, with the right incentive.
She’d read an earthling saying “they can sell ice to the penguins”. She kept a mental note.
Well, your curry is on the table too, so it doesn’t have to contradict each other. I like the image of slamming a marble into a plate of curry
@Leira, I’ll give you a way out: surely Günther was also in possession of a gloggleglasster.
I don’t even know what my character should do in this situation…
Hmmmm, I mean, he is presumably an asshole, but also does not know much of technology… maybe hilarity should win out…
Leira watched Ruby slam the marble on the table with confounded skepticism. For all he knew, that could be the way to turn it on (and he had tried doing exactly that).
—So, does it work?
Well, $%^#. I think you’ve gotten ahold of a fake gloggleglasster, Doctor. Surely they aren’t supposed to melt like that…
Although, with the way this alien curry tastes, I’m not surprised.
Where did you get it anyway? If I learned anything in my training, it’s that we need to search the area thoroughly.
Leira faceplanted on the table. He wasn’t even mad.
—Never trust anyone—he said, both to @RubyMineshaft and to himself.—Why don’t you go ask non-commander @Vsotvep to show you his original goggleglasster… you’re welcome.
He poured himself a huge pint of beer and started drinking.
OOC: I had thought that the pendant would be from your aunt, but you can give it the story you prefer. Don’t let me end up drinking in self-pity

discobot is killing me today
I was right
Are we sure discobot is not secretly mark5000 is disguise?
I hope this isn’t a hate site or anything, but I had to google it

(I think diskobot is anoek’s Jarvis, it toys with us because we torture its master.)
Odd that she simply left without saying a word in response to his pleasantries, but what can one expect from these mimics.
Behind the polite smile of her human-facade, Lt. yebellz felt something ominous in how Gia looked at him before she left the room. He wondered if the mimic had read his mind, something that he cannot be sure of. God only knows what terrible machinations these mimics might have prepared to keep their prisoners from escaping and revealing their experiment. Even still, in spite of the unknown risks, yebellz knew that he must persist with his mission.
The calamities back on Earth have shown the fragility of our species, and how we would be doomed to a single-planet grave should we not dare to expand our reach into the cosmos. The establishment of the Martian colony would be a vital first step to ensuring the continued existence of our species. While many on the mission came for very different reasons—scientific endeavor, the promise of creating new life as a pioneer, or even just to swindle a quick buck—Lt. yebellz came because he believed in the mission to support the Mars colony, which has now been derailed by these aliens, despite how friendly they are attempting to appear.
While others seem to have wandered off or drunk themselves into a stupor, he found commander Vsotvep for a quiet word. Although, perhaps it would not be private given the potential that the aliens could be listening or anyways reading minds.
Why must they continue to be psychologically tortured with this cruel game, where they think they are threatened with death, if they will ultimately reach safety here? Perhaps, they will successfully defeat the last mimic Assai, or perhaps they will not. Does either eventuality decide their fate or free them from this prison that we find ourselves in.
These aliens seem bent on keeping humanity unaware in their petri dish. I’m afraid that we are just their guinea pigs, and they might gladly watch humanity tear itself apart in the chaos back on Earth, while doing nothing to prevent it for the sake of their scientific non-interference. How can they pretend to be here to help us?
I wonder why Leira and fiddlehead went first.
Gia is also strongly hinting at some additional twist involving her personal mission, which has not yet been fully revealed. I wonder where that is going.
Despite my (in character) pleas above, I, of course, would like to see the game continue to the end normally without interference.
I think the astronauts have a very good shot, but everything ultimately rests on the judgment of ginger and HHG, and the persuasive abilities of the Assai, KAOS, and Samraku. I think KAOS and Samraku have a good shot of targeting Assai tomorrow, but HHG and ginger are really wildcards since they seem to have given less effort and not paid as much attention to the whole thread.
If it comes down to a final three, it would be:
I had played myself into a suspicious position, which would have been a major liability to the astronauts had I made it to the final five or three.
(OOC of course) Chance still favors astronauts, though the odds have increased significantly for mimics since I last counted. Let’s see, right now he has to survive the 2/3 roulette to land himself into the final 50-50 coin toss, that is 33.3% probability (if only, because I believe that psychology has much larger weight at this point).
@yebellz, I believe the subplot here should have us trying to escape this prison (needless to say, without interfering with the main game). It may or may not be fruitful, we are at the mercy of the GM, but narratively speaking, it only makes sense. Besides, it is fun.
I wanted to be wandering the hallways of this facility by now but, alas! discobot hates me
I think purely random chance is a crude way to look at it. Everyone is going to have their own biases, and the psychological whole of the entire game experience is what drives the gut feelings, impressions, and ultimately decisions.
For example, if I had to make a wager, I would judge that there are much better than 50-50 odds that KAOS would vote against Assai rather than Samraku tomorrow. However, I do concede that ginger and HHG are wildcards, since I don’t know how much either of them are paying attention or generally caring, so maybe the actual odds are much closer to dice rolls than I would hope.
I think KAOS is more likely to believe that Samraku is innocent over Assai, and they have already made the argument that Samraku being a mimic would have to imply that Gia and Starline were ready to throw Sports under the bus very early in the game, which could only be explained (as what I think would be a psychologically unlikely) ploy that was willing to sacrifice a mimic early.
Yeah, I’m assuming that the prison-break subplot may be the theme for this secondary game as well. Of course, we should not do anything to interfere with the main game, but I think it would be interesting to fully explore the connections and motivations as part of the story building challenge. I’m imagining that Vsotvep brought us all here for more than just sitting around, getting drunk, eating curry, and playing with marbles, but perhaps I’m jumping the gun on trying to move the prison break story forward before all of the players have arrived.
I’ve also thinking and mulling over how I might try to incorporate some vampire hunters and surfer buddies into our characters’ narrative and backstory.
Ruby watched for a second as Leira began to drink and wondered how anyone could possibly stomach drinking such salty alien beer. He shook his head and stood up, still feeling confused by the interaction with the erratic “doctor”, and decides that it couldn’t hurt to at least check in with the Commander.
As he approached the door he heard voices coming from within:
I wish I could hear a little better. – He carefully places an ear against the door.
That sounds like Lt. Yebellz. Maybe he hasn’t been brainwashed afterall… Still, I’d better play it safe.
He knocks on the door and requests permission to enter the room where the officers are speaking.
OOC
yebellz’s last post mentioned to kill Assai and KAOS the following two days and that this hands the win to the astronauts. I’m wondering how Assai is going to try to evade the established order.
KAOS has already cast a vote against Assai.
Assai is in a tough spot. If they go after KAOS and accept that Samraku is likely innocent, they only at best delay their death for another day. Hence, they have to also go after Samraku, but that’s going to be a lot harder to argue without raising the suspicions of ginger and HHG.
Another approach is to continue arguing that there’s “no firm evidence” and that it’s just a 1/3 “chance” among the remaining possible suspects. I don’t agree with such reasoning, since it asks everyone to ignore the entire history of discussion that should offer clues to improve those odds. However, it just might work since it does not seem that HHG or ginger are really engaged enough to work through the game history. Maybe they’ll go along with Assai, since they can better relate to “hey, I don’t know, let’s just guess” possibly put forward by Assai, as opposed to KAOS and Samraku, who I think will likely try to make firmer arguments.
I also think it is likely that Samraku will vote to kill Assai since KAOS has supported Samraku’s innocence.
Wow, I just checked the vote and HHG has cast against “nobody”. I hope they are not intending to keep it there. That makes no sense at this stage in the game. I guess it’s just a placeholder vote to see the results. I see they are drafting a post, so let’s see what they have to say.
Another edit: yep, Samraku has also cast a vote against Assai.
I think Assai will have a hard time to change either KAOS’s or Samraku’s vote, so their best shot is to sway both ginger and HHG.
For what it’s worth, I find the popcorn here is actually quite decent.
