Am I the only person who gets impatient waiting for people to reply when I get the “replying…” icon? I’m gonna take the spaceship out for a spin and maybe that replying icon will be gone when I come back. I wanna make the most of Mars before I die. Why’d I let the Commander talk me into this mission? The deep space mission gets to work in zero gravity. And play in warp space. And they get free time that they are allowed to go outside their base to have fun. We need to kill these martians fast so we can have fun too. I’m gonna take that spaceship out for a spin right now. I need something to take my mind off of these mimics.
Well before I do, I will answer a question.
Well I guess I hoped that the detective would be alive. I don’t know what to do if they are dead. Do you have any ideas?
What do you mean you’re going to take the spaceship for a spin? You know as well as the rest of us that if you so much as step foot on the bridge without permission, Lt. Yebellz will have you court-marshaled. That man does follow the rules to the letter.
Besides, we didn’t come here to have fun. We came here to work. Mars is not going to terraform itself.
Hello everyone!
The whole crew of mission Epsilon is missing, then our Commander @Vsotvep disappeared, @Leira too, and now there is no trace of fiddlehead.
We still don’t have any explanation where their body’s are now. It’s not clear how the Mimics made Leira levitate and what the physical phenomenon was behind this flash of light when Leira disappeared. I feel guilty because I’m one of those who sentenced @李建澔2 to death.
Thank you for the coffee, @Gia! And thank you again for the tea yesterday. At least MED seems not to be lethal. Hold on @KAOSkonfused!
@KAOSkonfused seems to worry if the detective is already dead. I hope not. Three innocent astronauts are no longer among us. The probability one of them was the detective is 1/11+1/9=20.2% (assuming Vagabond would have revealed himself on death row if he had been the detective).
The probability of the detective getting killed this evening is 1/11=9.09% (assuming they are alive and won’t reveal themselves on death row stupidly).
If we kill an innocent astronaut again this evening (I get cold at the idea), the probability of the mimics killing the detective this night is 1/7=14.29%.
If we kill a mimic (or noone) the probability of the mimics killing the detective this night is 1/8=12.5%.
Chances are still low the detective will be killed by the mimics this night. But taking into account @Haze claimed to be a bodyguard when he was on death row and there is a chance of the other bodyguard still being with us (same probability as the detective still being with us) the detective will get to live one or two nights from the time they reveal themselves. Publishing any information they gained will lead to us knowing the role of 2-8 (0-5 investigated persons not dead, the detective and one or two bodyguards) of the scientists present (the mimics must be scientists too, or we would recognise them by their work results).
Depending on how many roles of living crew members the detective already knows, they should decide on revealing themselves or taking the risk of 14.29% at most.
What if we voted who to investigate tonight, instead of who to kill? If we wrongly choose the detective, they can investigate the second in votes.
Unless they were unlucky enough to investigate 3/3 of dead astronauts by tomorrow, they might finally have some info that we can build on.
Please don’t get me wrong. Though the probability of the mimics killing the detective this night is the same whether we kill a mimic or noone, I think we should kill someone. I hate to say it, but we need to try to kill a mimic this evening so we still have a chance to win if the detective is already dead.
If the detective behaves too predictably, the mimics can kill who they investigated, which renders the investigation wasted.
Yes, but it might work if we really do put effort into choosing a truly suspicious person, in that case they’ll have to kill own of their own.
I agree with the fact that we need to kill someone. If we don’t kill someone today, we only get 1 more miskill. Why don’t we try today? We currently have 2 miskills and it is better to try and make an attempt then to just put it off.
Why do you think I chose a time to go that the Lt wasn’t here? He would’ve stopped me easily. I know we came here to work, but this is a suicide mission and I would like to have fun before I die.
EDIT to add: I’m not against killing someone today per se, but we must be very careful about it.
Also, if we vote for a mimic to be investigated tonight, they will probably kill someone else and not their own, they will leave it to us to kill them tomorrow, after the detective shares their findings. I didn’t think that through I guess.
Should the detective reveal themselves if they have detected a mimic?
Well, yes! We kill them today and they are down to two. Hopefully we have bodyguards left so the detective is protected tonight to investigate more.
Sounds like it’s almost time for my job. Let me just scream a little first.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!! I don’t want to die!!!”
I’m not quite sure if that will benefit us most.
@yebellz, @RubyMineshaft, @KAOSkonfused: I’d like to know what you think about this?
I will defer to the detective’s judgment on this unless the detective joined this mission with an age waiver. In which case, the detective should probably disclose a successful investigation immediately.
If they know a mimic, why not disclose it? I can see protecting their identity in any other instance, but why when they have such crucial information?
Once the detective reveals their identity, they will have at most two additional nights. Perhaps the idea comes from a place of greed, but if the detective feels he or she isn’t in danger of being murdered by those foul creatures in the night, they can potentially squeeze in an extra night or two of surveillance.
But we potentially kill one of our own today.
I can’t do the math, but isn’t having 2 targets for 2 nights better than 3 for 2/3 at best nights?
If two bodyguards and the detective come forth, with one mimic discovered and another role discovered tonight, the pool of potential mimics to kill shrinks, doesn’t it?
We are 11, right? If 11 is the detective, 10 and 9 are the bodyguards and we know 8 is a mimic, we have 7 people to work on, which be 6 tomorrow when the detective brings their results. Best case they will be 5, if the detective investigated a still alive innocent last night.
