Werewolf Game 4: Madness of the Martian Mimics

I can see the advantages of both strategies. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

If the detective has found a mimic, I think it is a good idea to reveal. The detective will number their days by revealing, but the other option of staying concealed also carries the risk of being killed before ever revealing any useful information.

Finding and killing a mimic at this stage is important. We don’t have many days before we fall behind in numbers, and taking out a mimic in necessary to keep us afloat. Further, having a confirmed mimic will shed light on other suspects in how they might have been related.

It’s very unlikely that a detective will be so lucky as to find all of the mimics and then live to share the information. Finding the rest will come down to reading people. Hence, it’s also very important that everyone discusses the game as much as possible. It’s hard for most people to continuously lie and they tend to give themselves away through subtle clues as they talk more and more. However, it becomes very easy for the mimics to stay concealed by just talking as little as possible and following the crowd on each vote.

We need to call out the quiet and the followers. People need to share their opinions, and the appearance of factions need to emerge as vital clues.

That too. Important note.

Good Idea! @Starline, @ginger2008: what do you think? You have been very quiet so far.

Let’s take a look at @KAOSkonfused today. Preferably we’d be able to do this at a time when she isn’t in quarantine and can speak without forcing us to listen to garbled MED speech, but it appears fortune was not on our side there.

I haven’t formed an opinion on her innocence yet, but I would like to hear what others think of her actions so far. I reviewed the comm logs, and I’m not quite sure what to think.

Okay, said ginger who always woke up late due to the time zone difference.
He woke up, drank some of @Gia 's black coffee and spat it out.

Bitter! Get me some milk and sugar!

After learning about Vagabond, he felt sorry for him after heavily accusing him. Kaos, had the Virus and ginger tried to keep a 1 meter distance with Kaos at all times.

[Edit: @Gia , why are you laughing?]

Ruby notices that no one seems willing to speculate on KAOSkonfused’s innocence, even though he only suggested it to encourage some sort of discussion.

There’s only one thing left to do I suppose.

He takes a deep breath, and sends an all channels broadcast:

Emergency meeting in the conference room in one hour. Please be on time and bring something for taking notes.

Can you insert a time? I don’t seem to be able to do so.

Thank you all for being on time.

All of you know I joined this mission for the purpose of managing plant development. However, that is not my sole mission. I was recruited by the late Commander Vsotvep as an undercover detective. He urged me not to reveal this mission to any of the crew, but I can no longer keep silent.

Ruby posts his mission log on the board for the entire crew to see. He then walks to the back of the room, sits down, and waits while the team reads.

Mission Log - RubyMineshaft [TOP SECRET]

Ground Date: 01

Zeta Ground Date: 01, Time elapsed since landing: 13:21:04

My stasis pod malfunctioned upon arrival. It appears on of the cables was unplugged. Thankfully, one of the androids came into the stasis bay and reconnected it. None of my crew mates bothered to override my pod.

I see in the communication logs that Commander V has gone missing. Possibly the work of Martian mimics. I’ll take an hour and configure the Alternate Life-form Detection System (ALDS) equipment before joining the rest of the crew.

Zeta Ground Date: 01, Time elapsed since landing: 13:30:20

The power cell on the ALDS is damaged and the repair manuals are nowhere to be found. I can probably repurpose a backup solar cell from one of the buggies, but it will take some time.

Zeta Ground Date: 01, Time elapsed since landing: 15:49:50

Without the use of the ALDS, I will have to resort to more traditional investigation methods. Thank the Universe Commander V forced me to do surveillance training before joining this mission.

The crew has taken up residence at Hellas Base. Time to join the crew.

Zeta Ground Date: 01, 46th hour of the Martian day

Our crews chef, @Gia, went out to “work the fields” and said she wouldn’t be able to be reached by radio for the rest of the evening because of solar flares. There has been no significant flare activity today.

Zeta Ground Date: 01, 2nd hour of the Martian night

I was following Gia tonight as she returned to the base. When she went into her room, I saw a soft glow and a quick flash of light. When I got to the door, her room was completely empty. An hour or so later she rematerialized in the room and went to bed.

@Gia is a mimic. I will keep this information to myself for now in hopes that the filthy creature reveals more information.

Ground Date: 02

Zeta Ground Date: 02, 2nd hour of the Martian day

One of our younger crew members, @Sports_for_Life, thought it would be funny to pretend to have contracted MED. Gia is pushing for his execution. I will move to block.

Zeta Ground Date: 02, 10th hour of the Martian day

The creature Gia keeps trying to get me to drink beverages it has prepared. I don’t dare to take even a sip. I think it noticed because it reacted quite violently after after I didn’t drink my tea. I’ll have to be more careful.

Zeta Ground Date: 02, 13th hour of the Martian day

I have successfully repurposed the backup solar cell from Hellas Buggy #3 for the ALDS equipment. It looks like I will only be able to get one scan per charge, so I’ll have to think carefully about who to use it on.

Zeta Ground Date: 02, 28th hour of the Martian day

That vile creature insists on giving me tea every time it sees me now. I brought the cup into my room to “think”. I tested it and it is in fact safe to drink. I guess it’s just trying to seem more human by giving us food.

Zeta Ground Date: 02, 47th hour of the Martian day

I made a few random accusations today. Hopefully the mimics bought it. I don’t think I’m in significant danger of being killed tonight, but I won’t push it past tonight. I will tell the rest of the crew what I have discovered about Gia around mid-day tomorrow, unless it comes under suspicion due to its own actions.

Zeta Ground Date: 02, 4th hour of the Martian night

I chose to scan @HHG with the ALDS tonight. The charge isn’t very strong, but it works well enough. @HHG is human.

Our Situation

11 people remain, 8 are innocent, 3 are evil mimics

This is Day 3. If we wind up killing innocents on both Day 3 and 4, we can also expect that the mimics will kill innocents on Night 3 and 4, which would leave us with 4 innocents and 3 mimics on Day 5. This situation would require us to correctly kill a mimic on Day 5, however, ideally, we want to kill a mimic earlier than that. A complicating factor is that the mimics will find it easier to sway the vote in their favor as we go on. Everyone should consider the full contents of this thread (past votes, statements, positions, dispositions, everything) very carefully.

Look at Everyone’s Past Posts

I’ve said this before, but I really want to reemphasize this really useful tool.

  1. Click on a person’s name or avatar picture.
  2. A box should pop up with various info, among which will be a button that says “X points in topic”
  3. Click that button to filter and only see that person’s posts.
  4. Refresh the page, or open up a profile box and click on “Remove filter” to return to the normal view.

Looking at each player in this fashion really shows how disinterested and disengaged some people have been. Several players have very offered little in terms of substance.

The point of discussion is not just about figuring out who is a mimic. Of course, that’s the end goal, but how we get there is important as well. Ultimately, the key task for everyone is to convince the innocent players that you are innocent as well. Obviously, the mimics want to be mistaken as innocent, but also the innocents need to prove to other innocents that they are not mimics, in order to avoid hurting the team with mistargeted killings. However,

My Hypotheses and Suspects

These people I find to be suspicious since they have said very little of substance and/or what they did said has been erratic or poorly justified:

  1. @ginger2008
  2. @Starline
  3. @Sports_for_Life
  4. @HHG
  5. @Cool_Person

I would expect that at least one (and likely more) of them to be a mimic, however, I also worry that we might also have another among the other five (@Haze_with_a_Z, @KAOSkonfused, @Assai, @Gia, @RubyMineshaft), with @Haze_with_a_Z drawing the most concern from me.

An interesting pattern has emerged with a grudge seeming to form between @Cool_Person and @Sports_for_Life. What little they have said of substance has largely revolved around firm mutual suspicions by each of the other.

Other notes:

Ok, I was working for a while on writing this and then just saw that @RubyMineshaft make a big reveal. I’m going to focus on reading and processing that for now.

I need everyone’s help to review the communications logs and security footage. We need to comb through every interaction @Gia has had since our arrival.

I belive both @RubyMineshaft and @yebellz , so now i changed to @Gia. But how did you even know all of this, ruby?

Ok, huge move by @RubyMineshaft

Summary of Claims by @RubyMineshaft

Thoughts

  • Does anyone else claim to be the detective?
  • Who else is a bodyguard?
  • I, @yebellz, am not the detective and not a bodyguard
  • @Haze_with_a_Z has previously claimed to be a bodyguard
  • I think the bodyguards should all reveal now, since it will reduce who else needs to be investigated by the detective on subsequent nights. Anyways, the bodyguards will soon be lost since they need to protect the detective @RubyMineshaft tonight and tomorrow night.
  • @RubyMineshaft, please don’t hint at who you might investigate on subsequent nights. If you wind up investigating a mimic, it would not matter, but if you chose to investigate an innocent, the mimics would want to kill that person the same night in order to nullify the usefulness of clearing another person.

Everyone should switch their vote to kill @Gia

If you do not, you should provide a good justification for not doing so!

Even if @RubyMineshaft is lying (and the real detective does not speak, and may already be dead), then we would immediately learn that he is a mimic to be killed on Day 4.

Now I feel bad for my high post count. Sorry all.

I do not claim. I am a bodyguard. (am I considered else?) Does this mean I won’t get to go on my bouncy walk tonight? I really wanted to do that.

Don’t feel so sorry, Haze. What I said was mainly focused on encouraging people to take a careful look at those who have not said much and are flying under the radar. You’ve said so much and drawn so much attention, that I think everyone has formed an opinion about you already.

Also, suspicions toward you are somewhat irrelevant now, since we should either see you die protecting @RubyMineshaft or we’ll learn that you’re a mimic, if @RubyMineshaft dies before you.

@ginger2008, your vote quickly cast against @HHG without any words or justification, still raises concerns, perhaps even more so now that we have a detective claim that @HHG was innocent.

@ginger2008, you said so little in this game. Why did you suspect @HHG? Who else do you suspect (besides @Gia of course)? Who do you think is innocent?

Don’t keep reaching for that time zone excuse for talking so little. The Martian day is a long 48 hours, with plenty of opportunity for people with all sorts of sleep schedules to contribute the conversation, and your silence on the first two days is concerning.
