Werewolf Go Game 1

And the cat is out of the bag, no?

Sir Richard (@richyfourtytwo ), nobody would blame you for being confused, my own clairvoyance has been partially clouded on multiple occasions.

However, I think I have finally found the reason why that was the case. You see, a good seer must always consider the possibility of being wrong, instead of relying in the unearned confidence granted by meaningless roles.

My dear friend, we are on the same team. That much is certain. We need to be able to trust each other. So I will ask you one question, point blank:

At the beginning of this quest, were you told to work as settler, or were you told to work as rebel?

I have believed in your innocence almost from the beginning, but one never knows. If you’re a rebel, please tell me so now, this is the time.

If this is the case, and Team Black is rebel, I will swallow my pride and work towards that common goal. There would be no point in hiding it because it would only be confusing to your own team mates.

I am about to embark in an ambitious quest, the most abitious so far, that could mean our victory or our ruin. I will do so with the firm belief that you Richard, are innocent.

So, please answer this question with complete honesty, for I will believe you, even if no one else does. Are you, my friend, a rebel (not amnesiac)?

The error was that youse took @NeilAgg’s words at face value. They posted a scenario and labeled “black” and “white” as “rebels” and “settlers”, like it has become custom,(based on the assumption that you, @yebellz, was playing for White), without realising that Neil’s own stones were one the “wrong” team.

After the post from @Barbanaira I now am indeed nearly sure to be on your team.

I was told to be a settler. I thought to be the amnesiac for a while, but no longer.

So you’re confessing. I did not expect this to be the case so soon.

The cowards of House Alvetern must be losing their edge. I believe only half of your lies.

Don’t worry, this is granted by board logic alone (I think). Maybe it depends on the belief that @yebellz is spy, but that I believe to be entirely true.

Are you satisfied now Viscount @yebellz ?

Well, that revelation came probably a bit too late for me, I guess… I apologise to my fellow teammates for working so eagerly in favour of the settlers. It must have been incredibly frustrating for you.

I must say I considered being the amnesiac on several occasions, but I found both Leira and NeilAgg (as well as Jon Ko) incredibly convincing rebels. Like Leira, I was convinced of the innocence of richyfourtytwo and assumed he was the amnesiac, making the team of rebels complete with either Jon Ko or Gia. I suspected Gia, due to her stones working together so nicely with richyfourtytwo’s stone.

So, @Barbanaira has made a stunning claim, revealing to be the Rebel. I think that is believable, since it seems unlikely that a Settler would attempt such a feint, perhaps to confuse the amnesiac on the other team, but coming at the high price of convincing the Spy to support Team Black. I guess @Leira is right, that I’m a reluctant member of Team Black, however their play and analysis is what had me firmly convinced otherwise. My commitment to Team White was an attempt to force the hand of Team Black into playing moves to help reduce uncertainty. I was not expecting that to be rendered moot by a Rebel directly revealing.

We should carefully consider the stronger claim of 2a. It is possible that we are in case 2a, but it could also be case 2b, with @Barbanaira aiming to make such a feint right before @Leira and @Jon_Ko’s turns.

The revelation could have come later, perhaps right before @Vsotvep’s turn, or maybe on @Barbanaira’s turn, so perhaps the timing is significant to influence some crucial Team Black moves.

What??? There are other people you should apologise to!

The merchant was recounting the enormous bribe he had been sent.

I can always be… convinced… to aid you more, but I can see from your clothing alone that you wouldn’t be able to affort it anyways.

Viscount @yebellz 's :tangerine: troops disembarked on northern side of the East shore of the gobania, next to N11 Town, ready to surround the Zealot Encampment and attack at dawn.

However, unbeknownst to him, Leira the hermit had been long sneaking in groups of proselytizers, disguised as travellers and merchants, into this Orange Nation’s colony. It was a risky move: the troops remained loyal to the viscount, and might excecute disidents on sight, but their families, their wives, their kids, the elderly were growing ever more wary of his iron-fist rule.

You see, the hearts of the people do not change so easily and Orangians had always been a very devout folk; religion and The Church played an important part of their daily lives. When the Viscount outlawed The Order in his lands, they protested in silence.

They never accepted House Alvetern’s pagan cult, even as it was decreed as the new state religion, nor had they been impressed by @Barbanaira :skull: the Black claimed mystical transmutation into Barbalva the White. “Did he fight a balrog or something!?” they’d say, mockingly.

The next day there was mutiny. Nobody dared to attack the hermit when he appeared at the town’s gates, unarmed and chanting sacred songs, lest they be excommunicated by their friends and families for heresy. They disregarded the orders to take his head, and received him with open arms instead, much to the befuddlement of their leader.

Courtiers and minstrels joined his incantation and soon there was joy all over town.

And that’s the story of how Viscount Yebellz voluntarily converted back to The Faith. Or so the legend goes…

The Sacred Song

WOLOLOOOO!

I’m afraid, my dear viscount, Her Majesty won’t be too impressed by this feeble defense when She has you court-martialled for openly cooperating with traitors and revealing vital information to them, let alone how you’re going to pay back the mighty stipend you must have received from The Crown for your spying position.

But I’ll put a good word to The Queen during your trial. In exchange you’ll have to listen to our ideas, even if you find them doubtful. You’ll realize, in hindsight, that my readings were reasonable, and surprisingly accurate, except for one thing that I’ll elaborate on later.

I’m no dictator @Vsotvep :blueberries:, everyone is an equal on our team. We have to come to terms with the fact that everyone is sovereign, and disagreeable or uncooperative choices do not necessarily mean enmity. I hope you can appreciate the usefulness of having an ally that can think like a rebel.

Let’s take our time to consider various possibilities, as it is my turn to move, I can wait.

What say you, Astrologer @Jon_Ko , what are your thoughts right now?

It’s okay, you were working for your team. You couldn’t know who was in it and who not.

What are we doing after :black_cat:@Leira’s move? Attack the lower left corner, secure the right side some more? Something else?

Despite everything being revealed, I’m now still uncertain whether Gia or Jon Ko is our last team mate, but so are the settlers, so I’m happy to let that matter rest for the next eternity or so. Whichever of them is on the White team, I’m sure they’ll be helpful to our cause.

I suggest we wait until seeing Leira :black_cat: move, no need to give them any input.

I am a bit confused. Are we saying that Team Black are the settlers and @yebellz:tangerine: is on Team Black?

That must indeed be the case if Barbanaira speaks the truth about being a rebel. And since it would be a terrible idea for a settler to make such a claim, I think we can trust him. (That far and not an inch further.)

Current known allegiances:

Team Black (settlers): @Leira :black_cat:, @yebellz :tangerine:, @NeilAgg , @richyfourtytwo :green_apple:, +1

Team White (rebels): @Vsotvep :blueberries:, @Barbanaira :skull:, @MystWalker :snowflake:, +1

Unknown: @Gia :flamingo:, @Jon_Ko :rose:

OK, here are my thoughts about what us honest settlers could do: We can’t be sure yet if @Gia or @Jon_Ko belong to us. Both will claim that they do. @Leira could now settle in a spot that speeds up discovery, but at the risk of settling at a place where it is totally wasted. So I’d suggest a settlement that is worth a lot (maybe J3?) regardless of that open question. And we’ll ask Gia and Jon_Ko to make the necessary moves for information gathering later. If one of them doesn’t cooperate, we’ll learn something as well.

I am glad I count twice!
