Clossius cloned himself
lol whoops
The time is a bit more confusing than I thought it would be. The API looks for a second per move but the main time also effects this so I have had to change the parameters as I saw users post games here. Also size can change the average which is interesting.
If you have 1 or 2 more than expected it is fine. I care more about making sure games people played are not missed.
Check again in 30-60 minutes
Something is not working right for me.
I totally missed the last year edition.
This year I missed again the announcement.
Maybe because I do not read so often the forum.
And you did not posted announcement on OGS, where I logged daily.
However, I noticed the announcement posted yesterday, I started to play according to the rules.
Today I realized that I also need to join.
I went to the dedicated page and joined, signed up.
Looked around, and I was not on the result page.
Obviously, the update is not continuous.
Soon enough I saw the update message, but I am still not there.
Also the page is not quite clear about if I am logged in or not, and the player search do not return any result.
Do i need to do something else to be actually registered? or registering expired already?
The event has been announced a few weeks ago. The topic is even pinned up, so you canât miss it.
The event was announced on the day it started on the main site too.
The announcement only stayed for 6 hours, during the night (European time). So probably many people missed it.
I asked for admins to post it but I only have permission to post for 6 hours andI did not want to spam.
What is the username on OGS? I can just add it myself
So how it helps the pinning? How can you not miss something in the forum when you do not read the forum?
My suggestion was that the announcement posted on OGS in useful time might be of help for those who like me are active on OGS, but inactive on forum. I assume that my situation is not singular.

The event was announced on the day it started on the main site too.
Yes, I mentioned that I noticed that announcement, or maybe a similar one on the next day. But my point is that these were useful, but not complete useful, being a bit late.
And this part was not on an accusatory tone.Just a notice about what will be useful in future edition.
What was lost is good lost, No use to waste tears on it.
i think you can still join that. last year signed i up later too

So how it helps the pinning?
Pinning helps a lot players who donât use too much the forum to promote a topic because topics may disappear quickly to the bottom of the list when not pinned.

And this part was not on an accusatory tone.Just a notice about what will be useful in future edition.
Sure, no accusation here. Iâm curious on what do you suggest? You donât read the forum but important events are usually announced there and they come with a similar annoucement on the day itself on the main site. like for this event.
Maybe someone could create a news tab/page with event announcements? (Still will need a news manager too)

i think you can still join
I think too, like last year.

Pinning helps a lot players who donât use too much the forum to promote a topic because topics may disappear quickly to the bottom of the list when not pinned.
We are talking like politicians
I do not asked about how it helps those rarely reading the forums.
I asked how it helps those not reading the forum, but logging in daily on OGS.
It seems to me a precise question.

Iâm curious on what do you suggest?
Exactly what can be read in my first post. Announcements in OGS, prior to launch of the competition.

I asked for admins to post it but I only have permission to post for 6 hours andI did not want to spam.
OH, I get it now, and it makes a lot of sense. Those announcements, are often annoying, when is not something of personal interest.

What is the username on OGS? I can just add it myself
The same as this one ehomba , ehomba.
Thanks.

I only have permission to post for 6 hours
I think I see a solution for those announcements.
They are annoying, but I understand the necessity and I swallow them like a necessary bitter pill.
Now that the question was raised, I realize that the problem is with the persistence.
And the approach of 6 hours is not the most efficient one.
To reach most users should persist a week, but not to annoy, after was seen must go away.
Now, how is this to be done is up to debate.
It may a new close button, a permanent close, a delete button.
Or just the announcement minimize after few seconds, and so to be reachable if the user did not managed to read, but not in the way.
Or just, to go away when the game starts.
I will not pursue the realization of that by suggesting this improvement in the appropriate thread. I am too disinterested for that. I just pitched here maybe somebody will notice it and help it to be done.

It may a new close button, a permanent close, a delete button.
Canât they already be dismissed, and they wonât show up again for you?

Canât they already be dismissed, and they wonât show up again for you?
Not really sure, but I remember closing them a lot, so they must be coming back.
Maybe they can be closed permanently but I did not paid attention on how. I need to look it better when I will see a new one.
Itâs fun to play blitz games now and then, but the quality of my play really goes down the drainânot that I can boast much quality to begin with. My games are often won because my counterpart times out, not due to good or bad moves on my part. I even catch myself playing complicated games and deliberately using overplays.
This Challenge really helps with my rank anxiety, and it makes pressing that âplayâ button a lot easier. However, I donât think I should do this for an entire month.
You can launch a jubango 10hrs/player with a sealed move next month to cure yourself.
Same for me, so far I didnât derank because my opponents often timeout or resign while being ahead. Game quality is not good but I try to learn something from game reviews nevertheless.
