Took me a while on the second one to convince myself that it wasn’t checking words against a dictionary when there was only one letter left.
The problem with WORDLE ja is that it does not check inputs against a dictionary, which is a major part of the puzzle.
Unfortunately, my Esperanto is really bad to non-existant. Well, maybe I should try it anyway (tomorrow).

(I’m not a LotR fan, btw. I read it only once, and that was over 20 years ago and in German.)
So is mine. I resorted to rereading the rules to look for 5 letter words, and I didn’t know what the word meant until I stumbled upon it at the end. I actually felt more in control in the lojban one.

I got lucky with 4/5 letters in 3 guesses.
Hint for Lojban Wordle if you don’t know any Lojban. Words are gismu, which means they will always be either CVCCV or CCVCV, so you often don’t need to know the gismu in order to guess it.
so what would yellow mean in this version? I’m imagining it needs to be translated along one dimension only to be correct…
so that white 2 could be translated three to the left and be correct as the knight’s approach?
and black 3 translated two down, as the knight’s back off
finally white 4 translated five to the left to make a two space jump
is there an easy to access joseki database? I assume OJE data is stored in the backend… otoh I really don’t need another side project
Right location, wrong move number / colour?
I was imagining it as correct location and color, but wrong move number.
However, maybe it makes more sense to just have it mean correct location, but wrong move number (wrong color would imply wrong move number, of course), and hence yellow would be ambiguous about the correctness of the color.
I guess it’s a design decision and maybe the relative difficulty between the two choices could be play-tested.
The actual “solution” that I was imagining is a bit problematic, since it has more moves and does not fit within the shown area.
I think the actual playing area should be the entire top-right 8x8 or 9x9 quadrant. Maybe there should be some conventions, like Black always begins in the “polite triangle”, and subsequent moves are always within the polite triangle if previous moves are all on the diagonal.
Kojo’s Joseki Dictionary is just a large SGF file. Maybe one could export the OJE as an SGF?
It would make sense to somehow curate a larger dictionary of reasonable joseki (for the set of valid inputs), and then a smaller selection of common joseki (for the set of possible solutions). Allowing for variable length joseki would be interesting, but I think the interface should state how many moves are in the solution. Maybe one should be able to enter valid joseki that are longer or shorter as probing guesses?
I think such a game would be a great way to learn some common joseki.
