A good player I meet for first time (lucky day!) in a tea house in Chengdu. So ready to lose? Yes of course!

Is it common in China to mix black and white stones in the same bowl?

I was wondering the same thing.

Black and white candies to snack while playing.
White is menthol flavoured and black is liquorice flavoured.
Let’s add a smiley, otherwise you might think I am serious.

Not always but yes. Prisoners when counting don’t matter so in many places it is not that important to keep black and white stones separated. A quick swipe of the board, and ready to play again.

WIth Area scoring like using Chinese rule, prisoners have no effect in the final scoring. And only one side needs to count. Although keep mixed stone in the same jar, sometimes lead to hilarious results, and only notice when you put down the stone but it is the wrong color.

Fuxing park (Shanghai-center), met a few players there by chance.
The players were not surprised to meet a Westerner playing weiqi. In fact, i wasn’t the first one passing here.

Isn’t he the guy I remember (I know they all have tea bottles like that, but surely he looks familiar).
No?

Yes , even he owns the same water bottle! The world so small sometimes.

Nice  I’d prefer a place in the sun, UV kills Coronavirus (somewhat).
