I’m bored so let’s write haiku.
Cat, 30k (for @teapoweredrobot )
Don’t worry human
I shall score the board for you
(These stones are mine now)
Leela’s Poem
This is too easy
Humans are all so stupid
Oh no, a ladder
The Immortal Song of the Demon Greed
Woah there, mortal
Looks to me like you’re behind
Grab just a bit more
Underestimation
Eight kyus are all weak
They are all weak, yes indeed
All except this one
Aliens Play Go
On a game of Vrinct
Sulgo Fal Wztk has wagered
The small planet “Earth”

Perhaps:
I could read the moves
So I do not have regrets
First game of the year
I’m not sure about the last line, the Japanese says literally “first go meeting”, but the “first” often refers to the first thing of the year.

Why not a poll? I vote for Leela’ Poem.
Real life scoring is hard!
The last line is good
(I was going to add a translation, but I was running late to something and forgot about adding it after, so thank you for your translation )
Also, another one I found online (this one’s English XD): https://emptytriangle.com/archive/show/81

Not a haiku-
Starting out go is quite daunting
The expert plays are haunting
I do not know what they’ll do!
They know what i’m going to…
To the center!
Too hard to take
Take the corner!
They got me in a snake
Invasion!
it’s hard to fend off
My territory?
None! Soft!
A ddk I am i say
Weak I do but continue to play
A ddk I will stay
But a few digits lower I will say
This slow improvement like a poison
Wearing down my rank like a noise
Penetrating the wall and penetrating the brain
Grace, Poise
A silent ddk learning the ploys
Invasion! Net!
Not done learning yet!
Manual scoring
small cut scores
Manuals, boring!
Lets continue to play!
DDK today
DDK tomorrow
Let’s meet eachother on the battle field on the morrow!

Nice, I get five stones.
パチ, パチ, oops, I’m dead.
The joy of Igo.
パチ = “pachi”, as used in Hikaru no Go for the sound of a stone hitting the board.

This topic sets forth a challenge to unearth one or more instances of great poetry in the vast library of this form of performance art. Rap music isn’t unlike it in some ways but doesn’t qualify since it has been called music. I’m not sure where Muhammad Ali goes, the Beat poets, Gil Scott-Heron as precursor to rap… Comments about history would be good.
Getting things rolling…see the first post.
Got any Go poetry? Put in here.
They Said It Wasn’t Tournament Legal
I found myself a game called Go,
It seemed to have no hassle –
Half the pieces are just mentos
and you never have to castle.
I made an OGS account
but stray cats stole my mouse,
so I found a local Go club
50 miles from my house.
I went into the city for to see what I could find,
Got lost inside a swimming pool but ended up in Argos.
They said to me they knew for sure just what I had in mind –
and sold me CS:GO with …

Long, long ago, in the time-hazy era called by the Ancients “2017”, a thread was made called “Christmas Go Haiku Challenge”. Many mightily-skilled poets of legend gathered there, and promptly left after seeing we’d turned up. Still, much fun was had, and a fine collection of rustic odes to the beautiful game were penned. With that in mind, it’s been in my brain to start a new challenge: Go poetry for New Year! I’m going to write a haiku about Go for every day of this month, and you’re…
Falling into place
The first Xenocratic lines
Straight and steel-wrought
Mathematical:
Finely measured harmony
Restrained in dark ink
Nineteen slender threads
Interlocking, embracing
Their involution
Autumn cornfield
Fertile golden kingdom
World-within-a-world
Softly shining stars
Perfect, remote in beauty
Splendidly untouched
Pearls crying from streams
Hidden deep in the forest
Singing yesterdays
Fast-falling flowers
Spreading their petals like snow
Gathering on hills
Coal…
I’ve seen a fair bit of poetry on these forums. And as a writer myself, I find it almost silly that i had never conceived of writing poetry about my favorite game. So, taking a leaf from the book of other poets in this community, I decided to write my own piece.
I decided that over two weeks ago. It has taken me that long, not to write it, but to think about it. I needed to think about the sort of writing that I wanted this to be. And i also recognised that this isn’t the sort of poetry I usual…
I’m not a poet,
but I can search the forums
to revive old posts

Is there a Limerick thread? I tried to think of one after reading the lovely haiku
A young three kyu from West Hampstead
Enjoyed playing Go from his bunk bed
With Tesuji in place
Phone fell on his face
He lost an eye and is now dead

That’s pretty clever, but you know, a real limerick has to be obscene, which wouldn’t quite be suitable for this family friendly site.

That’s not a haiku,
